METHODOLOGY
The clock is simple. The machinery keeping it honest is less so.
A goal in a recognised competitive first-team Tottenham match covered by the site. Friendlies and academy matches do not count. Home and away follow the fixture designation, rather than the location of the nearest stadium.
The server sends one canonical timestamp. Your browser subtracts that timestamp from the current time and updates the display locally every second. It does not ask the database 60 times a minute.
Goal history is never deleted. A score correction retracts the affected goal, restores the previous valid goal as canonical, and rewinds the timers and counters. Duplicate provider deliveries are ignored.
The integration is prepared for GOAL API signed webhooks, including goal.scored and score.changed. Until production credentials and competition identifiers are configured, the public clock uses manually verified match records and clearly reports degraded data status to the control room.
